50 Christmas Breakfast Ideas – Eating Bird Food

Start Christmas morning off right with these festive Christmas breakfast ideas including sweet options like cinnamon rolls and French toast to savory breakfast casseroles and quiche.

I love the holiday season – spending time with loved ones, baking Christmas cookies, driving around looking at lights – I’m here for it all!

But one of my absolute favorite childhood memories around the holidays has always the festive Christmas breakfast that my mom would make every year! Now that Isaac and I have started our own holiday traditions, I’m the one making the festive breakfast, which I take so much joy in.

If you’re like me and always love having a special Christmas morning feast, you’re in luck because today I am sharing over 50 Christmas breakfast ideas. From savory make-ahead breakfast casseroles to cinnamon rolls I’ve got you covered on all your breakfast needs!

Brittany’s Christmas Morning Picks

If you’re not sure where to start, add my fluffy cinnamon rolls to your menu right away. I’ve made them every year on Christmas for the past 3 years and they’re always a huge hit. I even figured out a way to do most of the prep the night before so all I have to do is pop them into the oven on Christmas morning. To balance out the sweet, I also make some sort of protein like an egg casserole or quiche. Lately my cottage cheese quiche has been our go-to, but I also really like my sausage egg bake. Pair it all with a big bowl of fruit and a round of mimosas, and you’re set for a cozy and delicious morning.

I hope this post gives you plenty of inspiration for a fun and festive Christmas breakfast! If you make any of these recipes, tag me on Instagram or let me know your favorites in the comments. I love seeing your holiday traditions!

Cinnamon Rolls = Our Family Tradition

I’ve been making homemade cinnamon rolls on Christmas morning since my kiddos were born and they’ve become a tradition for us. I prep them on Christmas eve so most of the prep work is done in advance.

French Toast, Pancakes & Waffles

While we love our cinnamon rolls, a French toast bake is another great option for Christmas morning. And if you’re more of a pancake or waffle family I’ve got you covered there as well!

Egg Dishes

I love making an egg dish for Christmas brunch to balance out the sweetness and add a little protein to the mix. From frittatas, quiches, breakfast casseroles, egg muffins… there are so many options to choose from!

Oatmeal

Another great option for brunch when serving a crowd is a baked oatmeal recipe. There are so many different flavor variations (my personal fave for Christmas morning is my gingerbread baked oatmeal) and it can be made ahead of time!

Sides & Drinks

Can’t forget about the sides… fruit, protein, potatoes… all great additions to any Christmas morning spread.

Tips for a Stress-Free Christmas Breakfast

Want to enjoy Christmas morning without spending it all in the kitchen? Here are a few things I’ve learned over the years:

  • Make what you can ahead of time. Most casseroles, baked oatmeal, and even cinnamon rolls can be prepped the night before and just popped in the oven Christmas morning. And some things can be made completely and then reheated.
  • Balance sweet and savory. I love pairing something rich like cinnamon rolls with an egg dish or fruit salad to keep things balanced.
  • Don’t forget drinks! Mimosas, coffee, and a pitcher of water with citrus slices make things feel special without much extra effort.
  • Set the table the night before. It’s one less thing to do in the morning — and makes the meal feel more festive.
